Living in Hilton Hotels in Panamá City, Panamá

As a person who lives in hotels 100%, I am taking advantage of inexpensive rates at the hotels in Panamá.

One of the reasons I decided to visit Panamá is because an article by The Points Guy: 8 Low-Level Hilton Properties that Make for Awesome Rewards mentioned the Hampton by Hilton Panamá. At the time the article was published, it was a Category 1 (lowest-end) hotel at a cost of only 5,000 points/night. It has since been upgraded to Category 2, which is 10,000 points, which is still a great deal given the quality and central location of the hotel.

There are also 2 other Hilton-branded properties (Garden Inn & Doubletree) for the same rate. Hilton offers the 5th night free when you book 4 nights, making each of these 3 hotels actually only 8,000 points/night. Alternatively, I can pay around $60/night.

For about $120/night, I can choose to live in luxury at the Waldorf Astoria or The Hilton.  For each paid night, I earn about 4,000 points.  Therefore, for every 2 nights I pay, I basically receive 1 night free at my choice of the Hampton, Garden Inn, and Doubletree in Panamá.

I like free, and I like luxury, so I´m going to enjoy all 5 properties!  All of the Hilton-branded hotels are in downtown Panamá City, and there are lots of restaurants and shops around each of them.  I’ve enjoyed a variety of delicious food, averaging $6/meal.   I regularly use Uber here for longer distances around the city, and my bill has never been more than $3.

I’m just getting started. I have much more learning and exploring to do!  I’ll share as I learn. If you have any questions or would like to hear about anything in particular, please let me know in the Comments sections below.
